Shenzhen, in southeastern China, is a modern metropolis that links Hong Kong to China’s mainland. It's known for its shopping destinations, including Luohu Commercial City, a massive mall with a vast array of wares, from tailors’ custom clothing to faux designer bags. The city also features contemporary buildings, such as the 600m-tall skyscraper Ping An International Finance Centre, and a number of amusement parks.

As a Chinese, Shenzhen is a magic city, because it only takes 30 years from a fishing village to a megalopolis, with a population of over 10 million and lots of sky-penetrating edifices.

Shenzhen belongs to Guangdong Province — Guangdong is the largest apparel base in China, where a great many apparel manufacturer choose to develop in. Shenzhen enjoys a leading position in the women apparel field, and becomes the largest base of brand apparel design and manufacturing. In 2016, the output of Shenzhen apparel industry reached 210 billion RMB, the apparel industry companies was over 3500, the independent brands was more than 1200, and the coverage rate of department store was up to 60%.

[Designer to Know] Bi Yi and Her Brand QIBUL

Name, City, Brand? Bi Yi(毕翼), Beijing, QIBUL (柒布了) . Who are you? I’m a poet, I’m an artist and I’m a  designer. I graduated from The School of Arts Peking University. I like cheongsam, because my mother is a cheongsam tailor. When I was young, my mother taught me how to sew, to embroider, to design, that’s my childhood hobby, and I like it. Name , Gender, City? Nancy Wong (王婧), female, Shenzhen Who are you? I graduated from design school, and have many years’work experience in China’s fashion house as a design director, in charge of the womenswear design. Describe your brand: Beata (比那) After many year’s work, I finally launched my own brand, focusing on the mid-to-high-end womenswear market. And basically for office ladies between the age from 28 to 40 ladies. What is the origin of the brand’s name? It’s from a Latin female’s name, which is endowed with the meaning of “blessed”, “happy”. What made you want to create this brand? To everyone, it's best only when it fits you. I want to set up a brand which is not for following the fashion trends but for your own taste.
